About the hike
On Saturday and Sunday, 31 October and 1 November, we take you to the magical Čvrsnica - a two-day hiking mountain tale in the heart of one of the most beautiful mountains of Herzegovina!✨ We will spend the night in the Vilinac mountain lodge and ascend to the peak Veliki Vilinac (2113 m.a.s.l). On the second day, we will visit Hajdučka vrata, a natural phenomenon that takes your breath away, and then climb the peaks Velika Oštrovača (2020 m.a.s.l) and Trinjača (2038 m.a.s.l). Prepare yourself for unreal views, top-notch photos and a weekend full of maximum enjoyment! 😍
🧭 Route details: Meeting time is at 08:00 in the village of Vitlenica. You will receive the exact location in the message below.
DAY 1: Departure from Vitlenica, arrival at the lodge and sunset on Veliki Vilinac Departure from Vitlenica (approx. 1470 m.a.s.l) from where we will follow a marked and maintained path towards the Vilinac mountain lodge (1961 m.a.s.l). The trail to the lodge is around 7 km with approximately 500 metres elevation gain, and the average walking time including breaks is between 3.5 and 4 hours. At the lodge, we leave our overnight gear, after which we head out for the final ascent to the peak Veliki Vilinac where we plan to watch the sunset. The total distance on the first day is about 9 km with an overall ascent of around 650 m.
DAY 2: Hajdučka vrata, Trinjača and Velika Oštrovača The second day begins with an early departure from the lodge towards Hajdučka vrata (2000 m.a.s.l), a natural geomorphological landmark on the edge of the canyon. After a longer break, the trail continues towards the nearby peaks of Trinjača and Velika Oštrovača. We then return to the lodge to collect our belongings and descend the same trail back to Vitlenica. The total length of the trail on the second day is about 12 km with around 200 m ascent and 850 m descent.
Food at the lodge: There is an option to organise two meals: dinner (bean stew) and breakfast (pastries), for a total price of 15 KM per person, with mandatory prior reservation.
📜 By registering, each individual confirms they are responsible for their own physical and mental health and that they access the tour at their own risk, with an obligation to follow the plan and instructions of the guides.
🚗 Transport to the meeting point is self-organised. If you need transport from Sarajevo, let us know and we will try to find a place in someone's car.
💸 Participation fee for this tour is: - 40 KM for members of PD Gorske priče - 50 KM for other mountaineering clubs - 60 KM for all other hikers
The fee covers the overnight stay at Vilinac lodge, as well as organisation and guiding services during both days.
🌧️ In cases where adverse weather conditions may affect the feasibility or safety of the tour, the date may be postponed.
