Before your first hike, people often ask us what to bring. You don’t need equipment costing five hundred marks to go to Trebević. Start with what you already have and check this list.
Essential
- Broken-in ankle boots. New boots can cause blisters.
- Two litres of water, or three in summer.
- A windbreaker, even if the forecast promises good weather.
- An additional warm layer in case it gets cold.
- Food for the whole day and something sweet for the return journey.
What else can be useful
- Trekking poles can make descents easier, but you can manage your first hike without them.
- Head torches are rarely needed on summer day hikes.
- Gaiters are essential in winter, but we don’t need them for the rest of the year.
What to leave at home
Jeans and cotton t-shirts aren’t a good choice for a hike. You don’t need a thirty-litre rucksack for five hours of walking either.
If you’re missing anything from the essentials list, get in touch before the hike. Often, someone in the group can lend you equipment.
